Chapter 478
Isabella and Carol walked Estella downstairs, watching her hop into the car before they headed back.
"I can't shake the feeling that Ms. Foster was a bit let down, but not totally surprised. She didn't seem too upset though," Carol said, rubbing her chin.
Isabella chuckled and patted Carol's arm. "Why would she be all negative? Even if Ms. Foster didn't secure the investment, she could always turn to her husband for help. It's just a clash of ideas, not emotions. If she plays it right, her husband will surely come through for her."
Carol found Isabella's perspective sensible and put the matter aside.
They took the elevator back to their offices to get back to work.
Meanwhile, after leaving Isabella's company, Estella immediately called Michael.
"Mr. Williams, Ms. Taylor turned down my proposal. She said the company's finances couldn't handle such a risky investment," Estella informed Michael.
Michael nodded. "Don't worry, you'll get the investment soon."
Estella's eyes widened in surprise before she hung up.
'These couples always like to make things complicated. What's the point of all this?' Estella thought with a wry smile. It was just their marital banter; what did it have to do with her as an outsider?
Back at the office, Estella understood why Isabella had brought Carol in.
Seeing the script, Isabella probably considered rejecting Estella's request but hesitated due to Estella's status, so she brought in Carol to help express her thoughts.
Although Estella could read Isabella's mind, she wasn't upset, as she knew the outcome from the start. She was here just to fulfill a somewhat odd task.
"Bored on set, might as well chill," Estella yawned, telling the driver to wake her up when they reached the hotel before dozing off in the back seat.
After hanging up with Estella, Michael immediately called Jerry.
Jerry was already in the office, looking tired from lack of sleep.
Upon answering Michael's call, Jerry asked urgently, "What's up, Mr. Williams? What do you need?"
Michael nodded. "I've got three things for you."
Jerry grabbed a pen and a piece of paper, jotting down notes. "Go ahead, Mr. Williams, I'll get them done."
"The first thing is to discreetly look into Wilmer's and Isabella's grandma's identities. The second is how's the progress on the lottery jackpot plan I asked you to work on last time?" Michael didn't mention the third thing right away.
Jerry nodded, saying, "Don't worry, Mr. Williams, I've already assigned the second task, and it's done. Once you give the green light, our company will kick off the promotion."
"Great, once the ad campaign is done, make sure to send over the drinks with the winning details," Michael said, sounding pleased.
"Got it, Mr. Williams. What's the third thing?" Jerry yawned, still jotting down notes.
Michael grinned. "The third thing is I'm giving you a two-week vacation. And I'm throwing in the use of a private plane. You pick the destination, all expenses on me."
Jerry's pen froze, and he stared at his phone in disbelief. The caller ID showed Michael's name, and he wondered if he had misheard.
"Mr. Williams, are you serious about the two-week vacation?" Jerry asked, amazed.
Michael chuckled. "What's the matter? Don't you want a break? Since you seem to enjoy work so much, I'll add some extra tasks for you."
"No, no, no, Mr. Williams, I don't enjoy work at all. I mean, I really need a break now. I've been feeling exhausted lately," Jerry exclaimed with excitement.
Michael nodded calmly. "You've been putting in a lot of effort. Take a good rest, but make sure to wrap up urgent tasks before you go. The less pressing ones can wait until you're back."
Jerry happily agreed and hung up.
"I get to skip work tomorrow. Vacation time, here I come!" Jerry gleefully pranced around the office, making odd noises.
After the call, Michael could picture Jerry's elation. But that was none of his concern.
Rubbing his chin, Michael dialed another number. "I'll need to lean more on Mike for a while. He might not be as sharp in business as Jerry, but he should manage for two weeks."
After calming down, he remembered an urgent task. He promptly sorted out the lottery plan and packed for his trip home.
Once Jerry left, news of a promotion spread like wildfire online.
A popular beverage company was gearing up for a lottery with a grand prize of $100 million! The company would cover all taxes, so the winner would pocket the full $100 million! Even the secondary prizes were enticing, including phones, gadgets, and consolation prizes of $10 or $20.
Fans of the beverage went wild, stocking up in hopes of hitting the jackpot.
After seeing the promotion, Michael called Isabella.
"Hey babe, have you seen the buzz online? Buy a drink, get a shot at a hundred million bucks!" Michael said, trying to sound enthusiastic.
Isabella rolled her eyes. "Sweetheart, how likely is it that this falls into our laps? Remember that other beverage company that promised a fighter jet to the cap collector? They ended up reneging on the deal."
