Chapter 100
The door swung open, grabbing everyone's attention, including Michael, Isabella, and the bodyguards.
All eyes landed on Bob and his crew, making the air feel icy. The bodyguards' stares were as cold as Billy had warned-clearly, they exuded an air of combat expertise.
One of the bodyguards stepped forward, squinting. "Wasn't the instruction clear to avoid unnecessary entry?" he said, his voice frosty.
Bob gulped, forcing a smile that looked more like a grimace. "Uh, these are complimentary snacks and drinks from the cinema. Thought you might enjoy them while watching the movie."
The guard eyed the popcorn, fries, chips, and colorful drinks in Bob's hands.
"Wait here." The guard headed back to the audience area to inform Michael and Isabella about the situation.
Isabella's face lit up with a smile when she heard about the snacks and drinks. "Isn't this nice? You've been looking out for us for ages; you must be beat. How about grabbing some snacks and drinks and joining us for the movie?"
Michael glanced at the bodyguard, raised an eyebrow, and the bodyguard got the message.
"Thank you, Ms. Taylor." The guard smiled at Isabella, then walked back to Bob and his group.
"Put it down and you can go." The guards took the items and dismissed Bob and his crew.
The '24-year-old college student' bodyguard, who seemed to be the leader, looked at the food and drinks and said calmly, "Six people will share the first batch. If no one has any adverse reactions in half an hour, the next six can eat."
The bodyguards quickly picked six people, who then ate snacks and drank while watching the movie. After half an hour, they switched with the others.
"The iced tea here is pretty good. Want to try it?" Isabella offered, pointing to the iced tea in her hand.
Michael nodded, then grabbed Isabella's arm and pulled the iced tea towards him, taking a sip from the straw Isabella had just used.
Isabella's face turned red again. "How could you share a straw with me? That's not sanitary."
Michael rolled his eyes. "Do you hear yourself? We've kissed, and your tongue was like a wild snake. You didn't worry about hygiene then, did you?"
Isabella's face turned as red as a beet. She slapped Michael's shoulder and angrily turned back to the movie.
Michael smirked, knowing Isabella was super shy. He could see her chest rising and falling rapidly with her quickened breath.
Outside the cinema, Bob and his team regrouped.
"Damn it, this plan has to work. I spent a fortune on all those snacks and drinks!" Bob felt his heart ache. The cinema didn't provide those for free; he paid for everything himself!
Bob's plan was to give Isabella free drinks and snacks to make her feel the need to go to the bathroom.
If she went to the restroom, there would be only two female bodyguards following her. If they could hide in the restroom stalls beforehand, there might be a chance to slip drugs into Isabella's bag.
Bob's original plan was to drug the drinks, knocking out the bodyguards, Isabella, and Michael, making things a whole lot easier.
But one of his partners quickly shot that idea down.
The military folks had their own poison-testing procedures. They'd probably have one person eat the food first to see if they got poisoned. If not, then the rest would eat.
If they had gone with Bob's original plan, they would definitely have gotten shot by the bodyguards. Those guys were armed and not to be messed with!
Bob had to come up with a new idea. The women's restroom was their only shot.
Over 30 minutes later, Bob's plan seemed to be working. Isabella felt the urge to go to the bathroom.
"I need to use the restroom. I'll be back in a moment," Isabella said as she walked out of the theater. Michael waved his hand, and the two female bodyguards followed her.
"I'm just going to the restroom. There won't be any danger," Isabella said, looking at the two female bodyguards behind her, feeling a bit helpless.
One of the female bodyguards smiled and shook her head. "Sorry, Ms. Taylor, it's our duty. Please understand."
The other female bodyguard entered the women's restroom first to check it thoroughly. She found that out of the five stalls, four were occupied and only one was empty.
Isabella felt a bit embarrassed as she entered the restroom, noticing the bodyguard peering through the gap under the stalls.
"What is she doing?" Isabella asked the bodyguard next to her.
The bodyguard whispered, "She's checking for any suspicious people. There's a noticeable difference between someone genuinely using the restroom and someone just pretending to. Plus, their clothing can indicate if they're a normal person or an assassin."
Isabella swallowed hard. She couldn't believe what she had just heard. The bodyguard was actually on guard against assassins!
If Isabella remembered correctly, the only person who wanted to kill her now was Pearl's father, Paxton. But Paxton didn't seem to have much influence in this country.
The bodyguard confirmed that the four stalls were occupied by female theater staff. Then she nodded towards Isabella.
Isabella sighed helplessly and entered the empty stall.
The women hiding in the other four stalls were actually using the restroom to ensure the success of their mission. They had been crouching there so long their legs were almost numb.
One of them took a deep breath, recalling their entire plan in her mind, 'Next, we just have to wait for Isabella to finish using the restroom, go to the mirror to touch up her makeup, and then we rush out. Three of us will hold the guards back, while the remaining one will slip the drugs into Isabella's bag.'
Just then, they heard the sound of the door opening from Isabella's stall, indicating that Isabella had finished using the restroom.
'Here we go!' one woman thought, enduring the numbness in her legs, she pushed open the stall door, only to find that the doors of the other three stalls remained shut.
And to make matters worse, Isabella hadn't even touched up her makeup in the restroom; she hadn't even brought her purse! How could a woman not touch up her makeup after using the restroom!
