Chapter 476
When Isabella strolled into the office, she immediately noticed Carol's sour expression.
Raising an eyebrow, Isabella glanced at the clock. She'd only been gone from home for about 30 minutes. Judging by Carol's face, the issue wasn't about her.
"Did your guy miss your 30-minute deadline?" Isabella teased.
Carol rolled her eyes. "We went at it five times last night. But this morning, he couldn't get it up. No matter what I did, he stayed soft. It's so frustrating."
Carol's tone was dripping with annoyance.
Isabella smirked. "Too much information, Carol."
Still fuming about Joe, Carol turned to Isabella. "Your husband's been recovering from an injury at home. You two probably haven't been intimate during this time! You must be feeling pent up. The doc says couples should get busy at least twice a week! How many times did your man satisfy you last night?"
Isabella sighed and rubbed her forehead. "Enough, Carol. Let's not get into this at work. It's private. Seven times."
Carol's eyes widened. "Seven times? When did you finish?"
Isabella shrugged. "Not sure, but it was almost dawn."
Yawning, Isabella decided to change the subject. "You mentioned something important to discuss. What's up?"
After a moment, Carol remembered. "Remember Ms. Foster? She reached out today, wanting to chat about investing in a movie."
Hearing Estella's name and the movie, Isabella suddenly recalled a script Michael had shown her. Michael had mentioned the director planning to cast Estella as the lead.
"Is it that sci-fi flick?" Isabella mumbled to herself.
Curious, Carol leaned in. "You know about that movie? Read the script? How's it? Worth investing in?"
Carol, having just acquired the Brown Family's assets, needed to boost their reputation quickly. Making a movie seemed like a great option.
Isabella shook her head. "Not sure if it's the one I'm thinking of. If it is, the investment would be huge-at least a hundred million dollars conservatively."
Carol immediately shook her head. "A hundred million dollars? Are you serious? Even with the Brown Family's assets, it'll take time to cash out. We need a ton of cash. Movies are a risky business. If we tank, the losses will be massive!" Carol dismissed the idea after hearing Isabella's estimate.
Despite Carol's dismissal, Isabella still intended to meet Estella first, given her connection to that mysterious man and the positive impression Isabella had of her.
Back in her office, Isabella phoned Estella and invited her for a chat.
At that moment, Estella had just wrapped up a scene on set and decided to take a break, heading to Isabella's office.
Sporting dark circles from a night of shooting, Estella looked a bit worn out. Nonetheless, she gathered her energy and entered the company building.
As she stepped into the elevator, Estella took a deep breath. She had discussed the need for additional investment in the movie with Michael, who directed her to Isabella, assuring her that the funds would be provided once she laid out the requirements.
Estella didn't fully grasp Michael's motives but now understood his connection to Isabella. She suspected Michael aimed to boost Isabella's influence through this venture. If Isabella agreed, the movie would promote her company. If not, Michael would cover the investment for Estella.
'Either way, funding for the shoot is sorted.' With a light stride, Estella entered Isabella's office.
"Ms. Foster, long time no see. Please, take a seat!" Isabella warmly greeted Estella, shaking her hand and motioning for her to sit on the couch. She then asked Juliet to prepare two cups of coffee.
"Ms. Taylor, hi. Last time, things got a bit awkward with Zoey. Hope you're okay with that," Estella said, her expression holding a touch of formality and respect.
Surprised by Estella's politeness, Isabella felt it was unnecessary.
Despite Isabella's influence rivaling the major families, Estella's background was equally impressive, making such formality uncalled for.
"Ms. Foster, you're being too formal. The past is in the past. No need for apologies." Isabella observed curiously.
Embarrassed, Estella waved it off. She couldn't reveal the real reason-their shared husband. She was the imposter, and Isabella was the real deal.
"I actually wanted to chat about investing in my new movie. I might have been a bit too respectful because I need your support," Estella winked, hinting her earlier demeanor was all in jest.
