Chapter 260

Michael's eyes lit up for a moment, like he had just cracked the code to Paxton's intentions.

"Jerry, change of plans. Pull our people back and let John's crew and Paxton's crew duke it out," Michael said, a faint smile playing on his lips.

Jerry gave a quick nod and hung up the phone.

Isabella, with her eyes locked on Michael, asked, "Babe, did you figure something out?"

Michael nodded. "Just a hunch. Paxton must've caught wind of you and Bianca fighting over the family shares. It probably sounds crazy to him since those companies seem worthless. So, he must think there's some hidden secret in those three companies. That's why he wants Jasper. He thinks Jasper's got the key to the whole thing."

"Is he really chasing after a secret that might not even be real? Has Paxton lost his mind?" Isabella couldn't believe what she was hearing.

Michael knew it sounded far-fetched, so he tried to explain Paxton's motives a bit more.

"Remember when your family fell apart? Only the Williams family stayed out of it, but the Larsons and Davises swiped a huge piece of your pie. Even though Paxton and his crew took some of your family's stuff and became one of the new Big Four, their background is still way weaker than the other three! So, whether this secret is real or not, Paxton's gonna want to take a shot at it," Michael explained, helping Isabella understand Paxton's motives.

Isabella nodded, taking in Michael's analysis. "You're right. With the domestic market shares almost evenly split among the Big Four, the only option left is the overseas market. Paxton had Pearl marry John's uncle to use his influence to break into that market. I guess I underestimated how far he'd go for his family's future."

"Exactly, babe. Don't stress about Paxton's plans. It's not our problem how he acts, since we're working from the shadows. Let John and Paxton go at each other. When they're busy fighting, we'll swoop in and take advantage," Michael said with a sly grin, a glint of cunning in his eyes.

Meanwhile, John and his team noticed something off about the cars tailing them.

"Hey, did you guys notice there are more cars following us now?"

"Yeah, it was just three cars before. Now it's six. What's going on?"

"They've sent more reinforcements! What do we do now? Should we call for backup too?"

"Damn it! They're ramming our cars. Are they really bold enough to mess with Mr. Williams' ride?"

"Did you, you moron, lose your wig and blow our cover?!"

Laughter crackled through John's earpiece again, but his face remained stone-cold, his eyes icy.

In the rearview mirror, John saw several cars tailing them. He knew if he wanted to reach Jasper, he couldn't let these pursuers ruin his plan.

"Alright, everyone, lead these cars to the trap location and teach them a lesson they won't forget," John ordered, his voice cold and commanding.

The lack of manpower over the past few days had infuriated him. As the heir to a powerful family, he wasn't used to such incompetence.

"Finally, we get to fight."

"My gun's been itching for some action."

"I can't wait to twist their heads off and kick 'em around like soccer balls."

"Just make sure when you kick him, he doesn't bite your foot! Haha."

The voices in the earpiece were filled with excitement, showing that John's team didn't take the pursuers lightly. They were confident because they were all highly trained, unlike the rookies they were up against.

Meanwhile, the Brown Family's team following John's convoy sensed something was off.

Originally, Michael's crew was tailing John, but they suddenly veered off onto another route, ditching the pursuit.

When the Brown Family's team reported this to Jonah, he quickly figured out that someone was pitting them against John.

Normally, Jonah wouldn't want to get involved in something so reckless, but with Paxton's orders, he had no choice but to take it seriously.

"Mr. Clarke, John's convoy is slowing down. They might've reached their destination, or they could be setting up an ambush," a subordinate said, trying to keep his voice steady.

Jonah nodded and grabbed his phone to give orders. "Alright, everyone, stay sharp. Fight back if they attack, but your lives come first. You're the family's most valuable asset."

After the call, Jonah hung up. Their family's position, not as strong as the other three, meant they had to constantly reinforce loyalty and courage. Otherwise, who would be willing to put their lives on the line for them?

The Brown Family team, now on high alert, checked their weapons with meticulous care. Knives were sharpened, pistols loaded. Everyone was bracing for the inevitable showdown.

When the first decoy car reached the ambush spot and stopped, the Brown Family team following behind also parked their cars. They got out, weapons in hand, and cautiously approached, ready for whatever was coming.

Suddenly, a bunch of bright lights flicked on around them, making them squint and shield their eyes.

"Get these jerks! Charge!" someone yelled from the shadows, and figures with weapons rushed forward under the spotlights.

Despite the initial shock, the Brown Family team quickly pulled themselves together.

"Let's show these idiots what we're made of!" one of them shouted, raising their weapon. The rest followed suit, and the two sides clashed.

The air was filled with the sounds of knives slicing through fabric, gunshots ringing out, and the cries of the wounded.

The fight was bloody and brutal right from the start. Meanwhile, on the other side of town, the real John finally pulled up to the Moonlit Lounge and parked the car.
