Chapter 108
Scarlett almost let it slip. If she kept saying it was drugs, everyone would start wondering how she knew so much.
Scarlett's hunch wasn't totally off base. I mean, drugs don't usually come with a logo on the packaging.
Lyanna jumped in, "Isabella, just come clean! You say Michael was with you the whole time and can back up your alibi, but he couldn't exactly follow you into the ladies' room, could he?"
Michael raised an eyebrow and shook his head. "I'm a gentleman; I don't just stroll into ladies' rooms. Only women and creeps do that."
Isabella stood up from the couch, pointing angrily at Lyanna. "Why are you so sure the drugs are mine? Even if Michael can't follow me into the ladies' room, I have two female bodyguards with me! Can't they vouch for me?"
Lyanna was speechless for a moment. Those bodyguards clearly followed Michael's orders. Accusing them of taking bribes from Isabella would be like questioning Michael's judgment.
But then, Michael awkwardly pulled Isabella's hand and said, "Those two female bodyguards protecting you are from the Evernia mercenary group. They went back to Evernia this morning. If we want to call them back, it'll take some time."
Isabella frowned slightly and sat back on the couch.
Scarlett and Lyanna exchanged a glance, their eyes lighting up with excitement. If they could find those two female bodyguards first and bribe them to accuse Isabella, it would nail her for drug trafficking!
Suddenly, a strange light flashed in Scarlett's eyes as she came up with another idea.
Scarlett looked at Michael and said, "Actually, there's something I haven't told you before. I own a bar, and one day a thug came in. He got drunk and told me that a beautiful foreign woman had bought drugs from him! The woman he described looked a lot like Isabella."
Kenna frowned at Scarlett. "Are you serious?"
Scarlett nodded earnestly. "Kenna, you have to believe me. I'm not lying. I'll have my bar security look into that guy's identity and bring him here to confront Isabella."
Kenna nodded, and Scarlett immediately got up from the couch and headed for the door.
"Aren't you two going to follow and see?" Kenna looked at Isabella and Michael, his expression calm.
Kenna had somehow grasped the truth. He noticed that when they saw the white powder, both Isabella and Michael stayed remarkably calm, like they were expecting it. They must have a plan they hadn't shared with him.
"It's okay, Dad, I believe Isabella is innocent. The buyer of the drugs that guy mentioned isn't Isabella." Michael smiled at Kenna and squeezed Isabella's hand.
Isabella nodded. "Dad, please believe me."
Kenna smiled slightly, nodded at Isabella, and then lazily leaned back in the couch, ready to watch the drama unfold.
Lyanna, still hanging out in the living room, started feeling more and more uneasy as she listened to their conversation.
'What are they up to? Do they have some new trick or evidence?' Lyanna thought, her anxiety growing.
Soon, Scarlett finished her call and walked back in. She had called Bob over. offering him a nice reward to testify against Isabella, proving her drug purchases.
Bob was in a tight spot and needed money badly. If he didn't come up with tens of thousands of dollars, he was going to lose a hand.
After getting Scarlett's call, Bob immediately called a car and rushed to the villa.
"Isabella, if you're involved with drugs, come clean. Kenna might go easier on you if you admit it," Scarlett taunted Isabella.
Isabella just shook her head with a smile. "I haven't done anything wrong, so why should I confess?"
Scarlett's expression froze. "You've made your choice. Don't regret it."
Just then, a bodyguard from outside the villa walked in. "Mr. Kenna Williams, Mr. Michael Williams, Mrs. Williams, there's a young man named Bob outside who claims to be a witness."
Michael waved his hand. "Let him in."
The bodyguard soon brought Bob inside.
Isabella was momentarily stunned when she saw Bob; he looked familiar. After a moment of thought, she remembered who he was.
"You're the guy from the movie theater yesterday. You brought us drinks!" Isabella said in surprise.
Although Bob was a thug, he was indeed handsome. So Isabella took a closer look at him, leaving a deep impression.
Bob spotted Isabella, but the sight of Michael set his teeth on edge.
Scarlett stood up, looking at Bob, "Bob, tell us who bought drugs from you yesterday?"
Bob swallowed and pointed at Isabella. "This lady bought a package of drugs from me yesterday. She told me to meet in the ladies' room. I hid in the adjacent stall. When she entered the stall, I passed the drugs to her through the gap under the partition."
Isabella's face instantly darkened, and Michael's expression wasn't too good either.
Seeing Michael and Isabella's changed expressions, Kenna sighed deeply.
Isabella stared at Scarlett and said coldly, "So you've been following me since yesterday! No wonder I felt like I was being watched."
Scarlett sneered, "I have no idea what you're talking about. I have never had anyone follow you. What we need to discuss is why you bought drugs!"
Scarlett pointed to the white powder in the suitcase.
Bob chimed in loudly, "That's right. I personally gave this lady the package of white powder. I remember very clearly, it's drugs."
Isabella's face broke into a mocking smile. She crossed her arms and laughed, "But I don't think it's drugs at all. It's flour. End of story."
