Chapter 188
After hearing Michael's words, Kenna fell silent again.
"That explains why Isabella seemed so familiar. Mason married her off to his grandson to fulfill his old regret," Kenna sighed deeply.
Michael raised an eyebrow. The reason he had called Kenna was to find out why Mason treated Isabella so well.
But to Michael's frustration, Kenna fell silent after that statement.
"Dad, do you know how frustrating it is when you start a story and then stop halfway? Please, continue. I really want to know why Mason treats Isabella so well. Don't tell me it's because he had a good relationship with Isabella's granddad. I won't believe that! Isabella has sisters, and Mason's never treated them nearly as well as he treats her," Michael said, eager to hear the truth from Kenna.
Kenna was silent for a while before slowly saying, "This has to do with Isabella's grandmother and my decision to leave Avalonia for Aurora Continent to start my business. There are some... personal matters involved. You should ask Mason directly."
Kenna clearly didn't want to say more about the specifics.
"Dad, I hate it when you only tell half the story. Can you tell me the real reason? Don't make me investigate further. It's a waste of energy," Michael said, dissatisfied.
Kenna sneered, "Didn't you say you and Isabella are truly in love and no one can control you? If you want to know the truth, go ask Mason directly. Why are you asking me? And watch your tone. I'm your dad, not your subordinate. Don't force me to fly over and give you what for!"
With that, Kenna hung up, leaving Michael stunned.
"Oh, my, what a mystery! Between a man and a woman? It's always just about the feelings, isn't it? Why are you so hung up on this at your age? Are you worried we'll make fun of you?" Michael scoffed, putting his phone away.
"Who are you talking to?" Isabella's voice came from behind Michael.
Michael turned to find Isabella looking at him with a puzzled expression.
"I was just on the phone with my dad. He was urging us to have a baby quickly! He said he's getting old and is afraid he won't live to see the day." Michael shrugged.
Isabella blushed. Talking about having babies always made her think about sex.
"Then what did you mean by making fun of him?" Isabella asked.
Michael suddenly hugged Isabella, a mischievous smile on his face. "I told him that if he wants a baby so bad, he should go find himself a wife. I promise not to make fun of him."
Isabella rolled her eyes at Michael's teasing of his father.
"He's your father. Can't you show him some respect?" Isabella lightly slapped Michael's chest.
Michael grabbed her hand, gently stroking it. "That's just how my father and I get along. By the way, is dinner ready?"
Isabella nodded. "Yes, it is ready. I was just coming to call you."
"Great, I burned a lot of energy earlier. I'm starving," Michael said happily, running into the villa.
Isabella stood behind him, sighing as she touched her stomach. "We've been trying so hard. Why isn't there any news yet?"
In the evening, Amelia and Benjamin arrived at Isabella's house as planned. They had dinner together to celebrate their recent success.
During dinner, Amelia kept bringing up topics like phone calls and having babies, clearly teasing Isabella. Isabella knew Amelia was doing it on purpose, so she blushed and glared at her.
After dinner, Amelia helped Isabella clean up. While tidying, Amelia opened the fridge and was surprised to see the packages of medicine inside.
"Isabella, are these all medicines? Who needs to take these, you or Michael?" Amelia asked curiously.
Michael, who was chatting with Benjamin on the sofa, suddenly turned pale. Benjamin noticed his expression and instantly knew what was going on.
Isabella blinked. She didn't want to embarrass Michael in front of everyone, so she smiled and said, "These are vitamin packets we both take."
Michael gave Isabella a grateful look, while Benjamin looked at him teasingly.
Amelia, holding the bag of medicine, asked curiously, "How effective is this medicine? Can Benjamin and I take it too?"
Isabella's eyes widened, and she shook her head vigorously. "No, different medicines have different effects on different people. If you want to take something like this, you should see a doctor to get a custom prescription."
"Exactly, dear. These medicines are custom-made. If anyone else takes them, they could end up with some serious side effects - smaller breasts, acne, or even hemorrhoids," Benjamin warned gravely, hoping to dissuade Amelia from wanting to try the medication.
Benjamin knew exactly what this medicine was and had no intention of taking it himself. He was confident he didn't need it!
Hearing Benjamin and Isabella's warnings, Amelia gave up on the idea of taking the medicine.
"Alright, let me know if it works for you, and give me the doctor's contact information," Amelia said, continuing to help Isabella with the dishes.
Isabella let out a sigh of relief and gave Michael a light glare.
Michael shrugged and pulled Benjamin back to the sofa.
Benjamin leaned in and whispered to Michael, "So, does that medicine really work?"
