Chapter 372
After a day at work, Lawrence didn't receive any messages from Sidney. He also didn't receive any updates about his son from Winnie.
As he opened his contacts, he realized he was still blocked by her. His face darkened as he recalled how Winnie had angrily thrown the voice recorder at him last night, leaving him feeling helpless. It was clear she was still angry.
He dialed an internal line and called Bryan over.
Lawrence leaned back in his chair and raised his hand. "Do you have Winnie's Facebook?"
"Yeah, I'm friends with Winnie," Bryan answered, smiling.
In the next moment, he sensed a dangerous stare coming from Lawrence. Bryan hesitated, his lips twitching, and said, "Winnie added me last time because of the jewelry exhibition project."
Lawrence did not look pleased. "Contact her and ask where she is and what she's doing."
Bryan figured that Lawrence was still being blocked by Winnie. He then made a voice call.
Unaware of the situation, Winnie quickly answered, "Bryan, hello?"
"Winnie, Mr. Rodriguez wants to pick up his son from your place."
Winnie's tone became heavy as she responded, "We're not home at the moment. We have come out to eat. Tell him to go home and wait. I'll have someone send the child back at ten o'clock."
Bryan felt a ball of paper hit his forehead and he turned to see Lawrence holding a note that said: "Who is she having dinner with?"
Reluctantly, Bryan asked Winnie and then relayed to Lawrence, "Winnie said she was going to have dinner with Rock at the riverside restaurant to enjoy the night view."
"Enjoy the night view?" Lawrence scoffed.
Bryan could clearly see Lawrence's face distorted with jealousy; every word uttered through gritted teeth. He pinched his brow, before he could react, Lawrence snatched his phone away, sporting a mocking smile. Lawrence angrily shouted into the phone, "Winnie, who do you think you are to enjoy the night view? How dare you allow my son to go and enjoy the night view with some random guy? I warn you, I am going to get my son. You'd better wait for me at home!"
Winnie was bewildered, wondering why this shameless man answered the call. Not wanting to hear his voice, she simply hung up.
In less than two minutes, there was a knock on the apartment door. Winnie initially assumed it was Rock, but Sidney rushed to open the door and discovered Lawrence's three bodyguards standing outside.
The bodyguards walked in and apologized, "Sorry, Winnie. We received Lawrence's orders to keep an eye on you and Sidney, and not allow you to go out."
Winnie was about to burst in anger as she retorted, "Why? I'm about to go out for dinner!"
"Lawrence is coming to pick up his son. He said he personally wants to cook for the child."
"Did I say I would let him use the kitchen? Don't let him cook!" Winnie roared again. But no one paid attention to her and Sidney. The bodyguards just stood orderly at the door.
Winnie was so angry that she couldn't think straight, so she had to call Rock and apologize for rescheduling their date.
Fortunately, Rock was understanding and agreed.
She had no other choice but to remain in the apartment with Sidney and Oscar.
Darcy received a call from her mother, and the tone on the other end immediately signaled trouble. "Darcy, initially, the plan was for us to accompany Bob back to Trento City to once again plead for forgiveness on your behalf. However, your father discovered that after Bob disembarked from the plane, he met with Paul of the Blanchet family. They discussed the prospect of a marriage alliance. It appears that Bob is considering giving up on you, as he intends to find a wife for Lawrence, and the Blanchet family happens to have a daughter available, Ishara Blanchet."
"Ishara Blanchet?" Darcy had only heard of Ishara's name. It was said that Ishara had a poor health growing up and had been receiving treatment overseas for years.
If Mars was telling the truth, then Winnie and Ishara were probably sisters.
Darcy's expression turned cold and her thoughts were interrupted. She couldn't fathom why did Bob have to be interested in the Blanchet family.
Mrs. Ordelia, unaware of any possible relationship between Winnie and Ishara, warned her daughter, "The Blanchet family is one of the top three prominent families in Trento City. It's not surprising that Bob would consider them first. Darcy, you should be careful!"
With gritted teeth, she added, "You need to bring Lawrence's heart back to him quickly."
"I'm working on it, Mother. Nobody can take Lawrence away from me," Darcy responded irritably before hanging up the phone. She got up and stood by the window as Barbara nodded silently, observing the approaching evening sky.
Darcy curled her lip in a sinister smile and dialed for Ray's phone.
In the evening, at the two-story café opposite Island Electronics Group.
The evening breeze on the terrace gently blew a lace hat adorned by a half-shielded girl. Leaning against the gauzy curtains, she looked below.
Her gaze fell upon the entrance of Island Electronics Group, where a mature and towering man stood.
He stood tall and upright, clad in a crisp white shirt paired with sleek black trousers. His strong wrist rested on his suit jacket, and his appearance had a touch of charming nonchalance as he pursed his lips and glanced at his watch.
His unparalleled side profile, accentuated by the rising neon lights, showcased his well-defined features and sharp jawline.
"The more I look at him, the more handsome he becomes," the young girl whispered, coughing lightly into her handkerchief.
Beside her, a woman held a phone and had just finished a call. "Lawrence of Lymington has been rumored to have exceptional looks. It's not surprising that you've been watching him for a few days, Ms. Ishara. And for your information, your mother, Madam Blanchet, just called me."
She continued, relaying a message, "This afternoon, Bob from the Rodriguez family had a brief meeting with Paul, hinting at a potential alliance. It appears that Lawrence's recognition is imminent. Madam Blanchet is curious about your return home and speculates that any forthcoming marriage proposal would be directed at you. She's eager to hear your thoughts, my dear."
The young girl's pale lips curved slightly. "What did you tell my mother?" she asked.
The woman smiled. "I told her that you recently returned from abroad, stopping by in Lymington for a brief tour. I didn't mention that you were here." Her gaze followed the girl's as she looked down at Lawrence. The woman too felt a sense of joy.
She commented, "This man is unmatched in his appearance, undoubtedly from the noble bloodline of the Rodriguez family. If you're going to marry, you should marry the best man in the world."
"Is that so?" the girl murmured softly.
The woman furrowed her brow. "Except for the fact that he has a child... and the mother of that child is... Winnie."
"Oh, Winnie. If Father brings back his illegitimate daughter, then the Blanchet family will have more than just me as a daughter," the young girl said with a casual smile, her eyes lowered and hidden behind her fluttering eyelashes. She took out her handkerchief and coughed slightly.
The woman's anger subsided, and she hinted, "But remember, you are still the only Miss Blanchet in the family, so you won't be at a disadvantage when it comes to marriage."
The young girl continued to cough.
"Ms. Ishara, please don't overexert yourself with these matters; it could harm your health," the woman said with genuine concern as she straightened her clothes.
The young girl's ethereal gaze drifted downwards, where the stern man had already boarded the car, seemingly headed somewhere. However, his lips curved with a faint smile, utterly captivating.
When Lawrence arrived at the apartment entrance holding two large bags of groceries, Winnie quickly pulled her two sons inside and asked helplessly, "Who should we hide this time?"
The two boys pondered for a moment. "Last time, Oscar pretended to watch the movie for me, so this time, I'll go in my true form!"
Oscar nodded in agreement.
Winnie hid Oscar in the small changing room of the bedroom. With Sidney by her side, the woman stepped outside.
Lawrence stood tall, rolling up his sleeves, clearly annoyed. "Winnie, don't you know how to lend a hand?" he grumbled.
