Chapter 363

"Winnie, what's wrong with you?" Inside the venue, Elliott noticed that Winnie seemed distracted.

"It's nothing." Winnie's body involuntarily turned back, as she focused on the crowd. In the vast sea of unfamiliar faces at the wedding banquet, she averted her gaze and furrowed her brow. "Do you feel like someone is watching me? You know what, perhaps it's just me. Anyways, let's go, uncle."

"Influential figures and wealthy businessmen are all heading downstairs to attend Lawrence's chip launch event. Will you go?" Elliott asked her in the elevator.

Coincidentally, the elevator doors opened on the floor below.

"The chip launch event for Island Electronics?" Winnie paused for a moment and her thoughts involuntarily turned to Mars. She twisted her brow and her eyes seemed lost in contemplation. Before she could react, the crowd pushed her out of the elevator.

In the conference hall, the launch event for Island Electronics' Power Saving chip was just beginning.

Lawrence, holding some documents, was surrounded by Island Electronics' executives as he walked toward the venue. However, before he could reach the podium, suddenly, two figures blocked his path.

They looked anxious and angrily shouted while holding their phones, "Lawrence! What's going on? News about the Power saving chip being leaked, is it true? This video is concrete evidence, claiming not only that the data has been leaked, but also that the Power Saving chip won't be released today because your research went wrong!"

The person speaking was the boss of Magic Aviation Company, who indignantly presented a piece of technology leak that had been circulating online.

The boss of Splendid Energy also angrily questioned Lawrence, "We were looking forward to the chip launch today for production to begin. We spent billions of dollars on its patent. And now, with the data leaked ahead of time, Lawrence, if this matter is true, how will you explain it to us!?"

As soon as they finished speaking, the surrounding businessmen were stunned and then gradually became restless. Reporters caught wind of the situation and rushed over.

Lawrence pursed his lips but remained silent.

On the podium, a senior executive from Island Electronics received a phone call and hurriedly ran over. "Lawrence, something bad has happened. During the final test of the Power saving chip, the doctor discovered a major issue with one of the data sets. It cannot be used. I'm afraid it can't be released now."

"What?!" The CEO of Magic Aviation Company was about to faint with anger. He clapped his hands and exclaimed, "Lawrence, the faulty chip is real, have you been playing us?"

At that moment, Mars appeared in the crowd, a smirk of amusement playing at the corner of his mouth. After Darcy's video commotion, it was finally his turn. In the video, he revealed a profile view of his face, but he didn't mind exposing his identity. In these cases, the focus was usually on how promiscuous the woman was. With a cold stare, the man locked his eyes on Lawrence, his peripheral vision briefly capturing Bob.

Bob furrowed his brow slightly and took two steps toward Lawrence. "Lawrence, how could there be a problem with Island Electronics' chips?"

"I don't know," Lawrence said, shaking his head with an indifferent tone, his expression unchanged. He motioned to the senior executive from Island Electronics, who reluctantly approached the podium. "Apologies, everyone. The launch event for the Power Saving chip will be temporarily postponed. We'll conduct an investigation into the data leak and address the research error with the chip."

"What is this nonsense? A big tech company like this, producing faulty chips? Are you trying to deceive us?" The CEO of Magic Aviation Company angrily exclaimed.

Reporters swiftly disseminated the groundbreaking news online. The issue with Island Electronics' chips rapidly gained traction on major platforms, prompting widespread attention. Consequently, the stock market of Island Electronics, intricately linked to this matter, experienced a sharp decline.

Lawrence remained silent, but instead, he looked calm and exchanged a glance with Bryan.

Bryan smirked and nodded.

Lawrence retracted his gaze, his chilling eyes capturing Mars in the distance. The corner of his mouth curled with indifference as he prepared to return to the company, waiting patiently for the trap to be sprung.

Just then, several policemen in prosecutor uniforms walked in through the door and approached Lawrence. Their expressions were unusual. "Lawrence, we are from Lymington Prosecutor's Office. We have received a report that you have repeatedly bribed government officials through the art gallery's jewelry exhibition project. The illicit funds were concealed through a contract. We have people searching for evidence at your company. Once we find that document and have concrete evidence, you will be arrested for bribery. The consequences are grave. Please come with us to the police station."

A pin drop could be heard in the suddenly quiet room.

Lawrence appeared taken aback, surprised. "The jewelry exhibition project?"

"Yes."

The man's rugged face was frigid. The only person who had a connection to the jewelry exhibition project at Island Electronics was Winnie. An incriminating document-he never did such a thing so it didn't made sense that there could be such a document.

Unless...

Suddenly, the man realized, as he remembered sitting at his desk last night, that Winnie had been seducing him. Unbeknownst to him, she had led his heart and soul astray, enticing him without his awareness. It was likely during that time that she had managed to slip the document into his office. With this understanding, he realized that the seemingly delicate allure of last night was actually part of a meticulously planned conspiracy.

Lawrence let out a cold laugh. His icy gaze pierced through the crowd and landed on the woman at the entrance.

As his gaze landed on her, Winnie, who had been standing there all along, finally stiffened, her entire body momentarily frozen. She couldn't help but step back.

At that moment, Mars appeared behind her seemingly out of nowhere. Intentionally standing close to her, Mars leaned in to speak, creating an ambiguous distance between them. He smirked and said, "Winnie, things have been handled well. You truly are my good assistant." After speaking, he took a few steps back.

Winnie suddenly looked up, and Lawrence came over abruptly, standing in front of her.

The police officers behind him saw Winnie and frowned, saying, "Winnie, are you in charge of the jewelry exhibition project? We have a few questions about Lawrence's involvement in the bribery, and we need you to give a statement. Please, come with us."

"No problem," Winnie murmured, feeling somewhat tongue-tied.

Lawrence gazed at her intently for a prolonged moment, then shifted his gaze to Mars, who stood behind her. Suddenly, everything became clear to him. A cold smirk twisted his lips, slowly stretching into a pained grimace. "Was it you last night?" he asked softly.

Winnie straightened herself, refusing to look at his icy gaze. She was afraid of being softhearted and dreaded the prospect of experiencing unwarranted guilt. Her heart seemed to be simmering in a fire, her throat dry. She coldly smiled replied, "It was me."

Lawrence suddenly laughed a bitter laugh. "So, you hate me this much? You served me like that just to harm me?"

"You owe us," Winnie clenched her teeth and tightened her fist. He owed her and Oscar.

Lawrence sneered, wondering who owed whom actually. He should have realized that this woman's malicious methods had never changed.

"Three years ago and now, three years later. Joining forces with someone outside to seek revenge on me, intending to harm me, is that all you're capable of?" He scoffed with contempt, his eyes filled with sharp intensity, akin to flashes of knives and swords.

The chip malfunction was anticipated, and Lawrence was prepared to counter Mars's tactics. However, Winnie consistently surpassed his expectations. In his repeated hesitations and inability to forget, Lawrence found himself absent-minded at the wedding. Winnie withdrew completely, holding a knife and waiting for him. How laughable, he realized it was just his own sweet delusion. This woman's heart was as cunning as a snake and as venomous as a scorpion.

"You wait for me," his said as his tone turned icy. "Those who harm me have no escape!"

Winnie's delicate body stiffened for a moment, her face pretending to be indifferent. "Sure, I'll wait."
